When the baby is weaned, infant formula can be used. They come in the form of powdered or liquid milk and all have a particular composition in accordance with the regulations in force. It is nevertheless important to know that infant formulas are not equivalent to breast milk. The 13% are lipids, proteins (from cow's milk), carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and trace elements that ensure the growth of the infant. In cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA), it is the protein part (caseins and whey proteins) that causes a reaction in the child.

To know : There are two types of proteins in cow's milk:

  • casein proteins, which represent 80% of the total proteins in milk,
  • whey proteins, which are in the minority (20%), but which have a higher nutritional value than the former.

CMPA means that the baby reacts to the proteins in the infant formula available to him.
